Dr Firdausi Qadri, Fellow, Bangladesh Academy of Sciences & icddr,b Scientist Receives Prestigious Clara Southmayd Ludlow Medal for Advancing Global Public Health.
The Bangladesh Academy of Sciences congratulates Dr Firdausi Qadri on receiving the prestigious Clara Southmayd Ludlow Medal from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) for her pioneering and inspirational contributions to global health. Dr Qadri received the medal from ASTMH President Dr Linnie Golightly during a ceremony at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, USA, on 13 November 2024.
The Clara Southmayd Ludlow Medal is the highest honour awarded by ASTMH and is named after Clara Southmayd Ludlow (1852–1924), a trailblazing entomologist who overcame significant barriers to advance the understanding of tropical medicine. The award recognizes individuals whose work embodies the spirit of inspiration and perseverance, advancing the field despite obstacles.
This remarkable honor highlights the outstanding contributions to advancing global public health and brings immense pride to Bangladesh and serve as an inspiration to the scientific community.
