Dr. Muhammad Golam Morshed, an Expatriate Fellow of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) and Clinical Professor in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, University of British Columbia (UBC), has been honoured with the 2025 Dr. David Hardwick Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest distinction conferred by the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada.
This prestigious award is presented to exceptional individuals who have demonstrated sustained excellence and achieved remarkable distinction in research, teaching, and professional service. Recipients are selected through a rigorous and highly competitive process that includes the annual Departmental Merit Review, peer nominations, and final evaluation by the Departmental Awards Committee.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Morshed has received numerous distinguished accolades, including the UBC Excellence in Clinical Services Award (2016), RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrants – People’s Choice Award (2017), Distinguished Microbiologist Award (Canada) (2019), Fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (2020), and Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) (2025).
The Lifetime Achievement Award was formally conferred upon Dr. Morshed on January 16, 2026, by Dr. Zu-Hua Gao, Head and Professor of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, University of British Columbia, in recognition of his outstanding contributions and enduring impact on the field.
