Workshop on Use and Administration of e-Resources

Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Library and Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) jointly organized a workshop on “Use and Administration of e-Resources” on 24 January 2010 in the University Library auditorium. Over hundred faculty members from different department and the head of the departments participated in the workshop. Vice Chancellor of the Bangladesh Agricultural University Professor Dr. M. A. Sattar Mandal was the Chief Guest of the workshop. Prof Dr. M. Ali Akbar, Convener, Council of Deans, BAU and Dr. M. A. Mazed, Country Coordinator of BIPC and Director of BAS were present at the workshop as the Special Guests. Dr. Abdullah Shams Bin Tariq, Associate Professor, Physics department, Rajshahi University was present as a Resource Person. The workshop was presided over by Mr. Probir Kumar Mitra Biswas, Library in-charge, BAU.

Resource person Dr. Abdullah Shams Bin Tariq delivered his lecture on “Introducing e-Resources Available at BAU” to the faculty members of BAU and explained the use of e-Resources efficiently and effectively. He vividly described how could they get involved and how to get the highest benefit out of it. He shared with the faculty members how Rajshahi University got benefited from this and suggested the faculty members of BAU to do the same. Later on, he demonstrated how to use the e-Resources. He compared the e-Resources as a mountain of gold and suggested to the faculty members to use the gold in the best way. At the end of his presentation, he replied to queries of the faculty members regarding e-Resources.

The Special Guest Dr. M.A. Mazed urged upon the Faculty members to involve more students and requested the Liberian to work closely with the teachers and the taught. He also suggested that the library should know the need of the faculties, researchers and the students and help them get it. Chief Guest of the workshop, Prof Dr. M. A. Sattar Mandal expressed his feeling and appreciated the Liberian to organize such a kind of workshop. He gave his thanks to Bangladesh Academy of Sciences to arrange such kinds of programs for providing university and R&D organizations with the INASP/PERI e-resources. The Chief Guest also ensured all cooperation to the library officer to develop it as a modern library.
