Obtained B.Sc.(Hons.) in Chemistry, Dhaka University, 1962; M.Sc. in Chemistry, Dhaka University, 1963; Ph.D. in Chemistry, Birmingham University, UK, 1968; Post-doctoral Fellowship, Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, USA 1968 - 1970; Research Fellow, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden, 1977 - 1978.
Jute plant and bacterial polysaccharides, dietary fiber, natural products, medicinal plants materials; Antidiabetic plant materials; Anticancer and Anti- HIV plant materials.
Commonwealth Scholar, UK, 1965 - 1968; Post-doctoral Fellow, USA, 1968 - 1970.
