Biography

MBBS (Dhaka), MCPS (BD), D.Bact (Manchester), M. Sc. (Manchester, UK), FCPS (BD), FCPS (Pak.), FICS (USA), FRCP (Edin.), FAS (BD), FRCP (Glasgow).
All through his education, he maintained a brilliant academic career. He graduated (MBBS) from the Dhaka Medical College in 1967 and in the same year he was commissioned in the Pakistan Army Medical Corps and served in different Military hospitals and field medical units. He started his career as specialist in Pathology in 1970 after successful completion of his specialization course in which he stood First from the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) and the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Rawal- pindi.
He passed MCPS from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) in Clinical Pathology. As a Commonwealth Scholar, being one of the most fortunate people, he obtained Postgraduate training from the Teaching Hospitals (Manchester), UK and obtained D.Bact. and M.Sc. degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Manchester, UK.
He also obtained FCPS, BCPS and FICS from the International College of Surgeons, USA. He was awarded FCPS in Microbiology from the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). He has been elected as Fellow of the Bangladesh Academy Sciences (FBAS). He was also awarded highest qualification FRCP from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Edinburgh). He was also awarded FRCP from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow).

Has more than 55 publications in the journals of Medical Science. Beside these, regularly conducting seminars, workshops particularly in the field of HIV/AIDS, STDs and Safe Blood Transfusion and thus playing a commendable role in the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in this country as an expert on the subject.
He had the rare privilege to participate three Special Sessions in the UN General Assembly on HIV/AIDS (UNGASS) and actively participated in the round table meetings and represented the country in UNGASS.
He also participated the World Health Assembly Session in Geneva. He is also an active Member on Certification Committee for Polio Eradication in Bangladesh.
Represented the country in many international seminars, workshops, conferences and visited many countries like UK, USA, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Malaysia, Singapore, KSA, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Australia, Norway, Switzerland, West Germany, Italy, Japan, Sri Lanka and China.
He is currently the President of the Society of Pathologists. Immediate past President and active member of the Society of Microbiologists. Immediate past President and Member of the Society of Immunologists.
